While strolling through some gift shops in the little town of Bemus Point, New York on Lake Chautaugua over the weekend I came across a painting with a powerful message underneath called “Living Life” by Bonnie Mohr.
The message struck home with me for a couple of reasons. My wife Kim and I decided to take the weekend to celebrate our 33 years of marriage and watch our daughter perform in a water ski show on the lake while keeping an eye on our grandson. A few days earlier also happened to be my 30th anniversary of serving our clients at Ramsburg Insurance and Financial Services.
Both are pretty good milestones that had me in a reflective and thankful mood about this amazing gift called Life. Since my profession is helping people plan for the future, the message was a great reminder that how we live our lives on a daily basis is the best investment we can make to help assure our futures are bright and rich with the things that truly matter. Here is the message:
LIVING LIFE
Life is not a race - but indeed a journey. Be Honest. Work Hard. Be Choosy. Say “thankyou,” “I love you” and “great job” to someone each day. Go to church, take time for prayer. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Let your handshake mean more than pen and paper. Love your life and what you’ve been given, it is not accidental - search for purpose and do it as best you can. Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to be. Laugh often. Appreciate the little things in life and enjoy them. Some of the best things really are free. Do not worry, less wrinkles are more becoming. Forgive, it frees the soul. Take time for yourself- plan for longevity. Recognize the special people you’ve been blessed to know. Live life for today, enjoy the moment.
Since tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us, what if we approached every new day as an anniversary?! What if we took a minute every day to read and follow the “Living Life” message? I know some people that do these better than I do and they inspire me to want to do better as well. The big milestones are great but it’s the things we do daily that will help make the big milestones that much more meaningful. Happy Anniversary!
